About
Chaoran Zhang is a Berklee College of Music graduate, majoring in Screen Scoring and Jazz Composition. Centering his craft on storytelling through music, he has scored more than thirty short and feature length projects, from USC, CalArts, and Emerson student productions to independent documentaries, turning images into emotionally precise soundscapes.
His award winning work has been honored by the Indie Film Music Contest and the NextNotes Composition Awards, and Ke Ke, the co director of The Wandering Earth, invited him to develop themes for the forthcoming feature “Mission First Star”. Chaoran has also written dynamic scores for Red Bull Media House, earmarked for future advertising campaigns, and crafted the main theme and episodic cues for a new Disney Television Animation series that earned praise from multiple Disney executives.
As an educator, Chaoran supported Berklee’s orchestration faculty in a seventy student lecture course and mentors private students in jazz harmony and piano. Beyond the classroom he performs regularly as a pianist and is partnering with Spitfire Audio on an innovative Chinese instrument sample library that links his cultural roots with modern sound design.
Believing every note carries a story, Chaoran positions himself as a fresh voice ready to shape the sound of contemporary film.
